Verdell Theo 'Rob' Robinson

Verdell Theo “Rob” Robinson of Colusa, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at the Fountains Care Center in Yuba City as a result of Parkinson’s Disease.

Rob was born on May 14, 1936. He grew up in Thayne, Wyo., and graduated from Star Valley High School. Rob then served In the Air Force for four years. In 1962, he graduated from Utah State University, where he played football and was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He spent his college summer breaks working as a fishing and hunting guide in Jackson Hole, Wyo., where he met his wife, Karen, in the summer of 1961, while they were both working in the Grand Tetons.

Rob was a resident of Colusa for the past 53 years. He began working at Delta Industries in 1963, and he eventually became partner/owner. As a proud member of the community, Rob was a member, and former president of the Colusa Rotary Club, Colusa Golf and Country Club, Colusa Shooting Club, Colusa County Flycasters, and Ducks Unlimited. In retirement, Rob and Karen spent summers in Sandpoint, Idaho.

He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, golfing, skiing and traveling with family. Rob enjoyed meeting, talking to and learning about anyone who crossed paths with him. He loved to teach others how to ski or fish.

Rob is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Karen Robinson of Colusa; daughter Kelly Curtiss (Tom) of Sandpoint, Idaho; son Brett Robinson (Kim) of Huntington Beach, Calif., and daughter Kristi Jacoby (Jeff) of Yuba City, Calif.; his grandchildren, David Harrington, Cole Harrington, Emily Curtiss, Isabel Robinson, Matthew Curtiss, Decker Robinson, and Molly Jacoby. He will be missed and loved by all of us.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Theo Robinson; and his sister, Janet Ellis.

A celebration of Rob’s life will be held on Oct. 8, 2016, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Colusa Golf and Country Club.
