SANDPOINT — It may be April Fool’s Day but this is no joke as The Festival at Sandpoint gives fans an unprecedented sneak peek at their stellar 35th annual season with the early announcement of their two super Saturday headliners.

Country music fans will celebrate the news that super hot artist Jake Owen is slated to perform on Saturday, Aug. 5.

A fast-rising star Owen was named American Country Music Awards’ Breakthrough Artist of the Year in 2012 and the No. 1 hits just keep coming, including “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” “The One That Got Away,” “Anywhere with You,” and “Beachin’.”

And for classic rock fans, George Thorogood and the Destroyers are bringing their 2017 Rock Party Tour to Memorial Field in Sandpoint on Saturday, Aug. 12.

The boogie-blues rock icon is best known for hits including “Bad to the Bone,” “Who Do You Love?”, “Move it on Over,” and “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer.”

Thorogood is joined by The White Buffalo, an American singer-songwriter who was recently named as one of NPR’s 12 new artists to watch.

Tickets the Saturday shows are $74.95 and go on sale online immediately upon announcement, Saturday morning, April 1, at www.festivalatsandpoint.com. Festival fans can also snap up the handful of remaining Early Bird Season Passes for $249 for all eight nights of music, including these two Saturday shows. Prior to this announcement, there were less than 100 of these coveted, discounted passes left.

“We are excited to offer this glimpse of what will surely be the best season we’ve ever had,” said Festival Executive Director Dyno Wahl. “The newly constructed Barlow Stadium, with its additional capacity, gave us the opportunity to take it up a notch to celebrate our 35th season.”

The full line-up for the 2017 Festival at Sandpoint will be announced on Saturday, April 29, however, those attending the Festival’s WineFest benefit event the night before, Friday, April 28, at the Bonner County Fairgrounds will be the first to know. Tickets are still available for the Festival’s WineFest event at www.festivalatsandpoint.com or by calling 208-265-4554. The Festival office is located at 525 Pine St. in downtown Sandpoint.
