BCGA tour offers gardeners chance to share the beauty

| April 5, 2017 1:00 AM

Are you proud of your gardens? Have you created something special that you would like for others to see and enjoy?

The Bonner County Gardeners Association offers the opportunity to share with their Summer Garden Tour scheduled for July 16.

If your gardens are located in the Sandpoint-Selle Valley environs — including downtown Sandpoint, or the Sandpoint/Sagle area — and offer adequate parking for a flow of guests throughout the day (10 a.m. to 4-5 p.m.); safe walking surfaces/paths for guests with viewing access to special features, and are willing to participate in this gift to the community, consider applying for inclusion.

Landscapes may be all floral; flower and vegetable gardens; garden/farm with animals such as goats, chickens, horses, cows and/or pets of interest to visitors; gardens with water or rockwork features; orchards; greenhouses with exotic flowers/plants — whatever’s your specialty and/or passion.

This fun way to show off your garden benefits the BCGA which offers horticulture classes for the public, conducts community gardening activities, works with elementary school gardens and offers a membership class based on the Idaho Master Gardeners’ Manual.

Last year’s tour saw a record attendance offering beautifully designed flower gardens and vegetable gardens as well.

If you would like to take part, please contact Gaea Swinford at 208-255-9165 or Pat Congleton at 208-265-8218.

The garden tour team will visit each applicant and work with the homeowner for a successful showing.
