Missoula Children's Theatre auditions date set

| April 5, 2017 1:00 AM

Auditions for Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “Gulliver’s Travels” will be held on Monday, April 24, 3:30-5:30 p.m., at Farmin-Stidwell Elementary, 1626 Spruce, in the gymnasium, followed by the first rehearsal, 6-8 p.m.

There are roles available for students in grades K-12. Students must be at least 5 years old to participate. Approximately 50-60 local students will be cast to appear in the show with the MCT tour actor/directors. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play. Students wishing to audition should arrive by the scheduled starting time and plan to stay for the entire two-hour session. The first rehearsal begins approximately 30 minutes after the auditions.

It is a group audition — no advance preparation is necessary, but a smile never hurts. The children should just be ready to come and have a good time. During the audition, two to four assistant directors, ages 10 and older, are selected to help teach and direct the show early in the week and take on technical responsibilities at performance time.

Rehearsals will be conducted every day, April 24-27, from 3:30 to 8 p.m. at Farmin Stidwell Elementary, and April 28 at the Panida Theater — full dress rehearsal (time to be announced). Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week and if selected, be able to attend all required rehearsals. A detailed schedule will be distributed at the end of the auditions. Cast members scheduled for the full four hours of rehearsal will be asked to bring a sack lunch, supper or snack.

The public performances of MCT’s “Gulliver’s Travels” will be held at the Panida Theater, 300 N. First, on Saturday, April 29, at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Ticket prices are kept low to ensure the best possible attendance by parents, family, friends and the community-at-large. Adult tickets are $10, youth under 18 are $5, per performance.

Tickets for the performances are available now at the POAC office, 302 N First, or artinsandpoint.org. Tickets will be available two weeks prior to the performances at POAC’s ticket outlets: Eve’s Leaves, 326 N. First Ave.; Eichardt’s Pub, 212 Cedar; and Winter Ridge Natural Foods, 701 Lake.

The residency in Sandpoint is made possible by the Pend Oreille Arts Council, Bonner County Daily Bee, Edward Jones, Litehouse, Inc., and STCU, with funding in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Idaho Commission on the Arts, and other private foundations.
