Elderly woman reported murdered

SANDPOINT — Bonner County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating a murder in Trestle Creek area. Deputies responded to the home after a report of an unresponsive elderly female, who was discovered by her husband. When deputies arrived, they determined this female was deceased. A death investigation was initiated.

The identification of the victim is pending notice to next to kin.

A suspect has been identified as Nathan Lane Utt, 41. A transient type, Utt is known to frequent local soup kitchens, charitable organizations and food banks in the Sandpoint area. He should be considered armed and dangerous and caution should be taken if contacted.

Nathan Utt is described as 6’ 1”, and about 180 pounds possibly wearing a blue colored jacket or a green full-length trench-coat and generally carries a back pack.

Detectives would like to speak with anyone who had resent contact with Nathan Utt. There is currently probable cause to arrest Utt for first-degree murder.
