Hathaway sets CF school record in first varsity meet

| April 13, 2017 1:00 AM

HARRISON FLATS — Freshman Sara Hathaway had a strong showing in her first varsity meet, winning the high jump in a new Clark Fork school record of 4-10, and winning the 100 hurdles and finishing second in the 100 meters, leading the Wampus Cats in their track season opener on Tuesday at the Kootenai Invitational.

The old Wampus Cats track record in the girls high jump was 4-8, set by Sarah Wombacher in 1993. The record figures to go up again, as Hathaway is just getting her feet wet this year.

Senior Hunter Boudousquie set PRs in the 100 and 200 meters, finishing third in both, and also finished second in the shot put. Max Icardo was second in the 300 hurdles, as the Wampus Cat boys finished fourth out of seven teams.

Nona Young was second in the shot and third in the discus, Ellie Kiebert was third in the shot and Ali Sutton third in the long jump for the Wampus Cat girls, who finished fifth.

“I’m really pleased with how everybody did,” said Cats head coach Brenda Haase. “I’m glad to see my freshmen participating with enthusiasm and getting some opening marks for the season.”

Clark Fork is at Kellogg on Saturday.
