Hurst cards career low as Bulldogs finish third; Sutton wins medalist honors for CF

PULLMAN — Hannah Hurst posted a career low 99 to lead the Bulldog girls golf team, which finished third, including wins over 5A Coeur d’Alene, Lake City, Lewiston and Post Falls, on Thursday at the Moscow Invite at the University of Idaho Golf Course.

Nina McDonnell and Caroline Hawkins both carded 101s, but it was Hurst that earned the praise of head coach Tom Tharp.

“The highlight of the day was Hannah Hurst,” he said. “It’s the first time she’s ever broken 100, and she did it by one stroke. We’re looking pretty good right now.”

Damien Fitzpatrick led the boys team with an 86, followed by Lake Wilks with a 90 under some tough conditions, as the Bulldogs finished 18th among 26 teams.

“Damien shaved eight strokes off his game from yesterday. It was tough conditions; 25 mile per hour winds and pretty darn chilly,” said Tharp. “Considering how tough that course is, I’m pretty satisfied.”

Sandpoint is at the Lake City Invitational on Monday at the Coeur d’Alene Golf Club.
