LACLEDE — A Spokane man has been charged with the attempted murder of a Bonner County man after authorities responded to a reported stabbing in Laclede on Sunday.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was stabbed once in the chest and once in the back with a kitchen knife. He remains hospitalized at Bonner General Health in Sandpoint and is in stable condition.

After searching for suspect Shawn M. Harp, 34, through the night, BCSO deputies located Harp in a chicken coop. He was taken into custody without incident and is charged with attempted murder, operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, and possession of paraphernalia. He is scheduled for a first appearance, and bail will be set at that time.

This case is still under investigation, as detectives are following up with additional information that has been provided.
