I have been a part of the Hope/Clark Fork community for over 40 years and I am suprised at the recent outcry against the proposed Scotchman Peaks Wilderness. As a retired Forest Service employee with 35 years working on the Sandpoint Ranger District I heard many complaints about Forest Service policy from my friends and neighbors in the community about a lot of different , but Scotchman Peaks Wilderness was not one of them.

I still believe that the vast majority of people in this community support the idea of protecting special places where they can hunt and fish and experience nature without all the distractions of our fast-paced, modern life. Isn’t that why we chose to live here? Clark Fork should be proud to have this natural gem in their backyard. Please continue to talk with your neighbors and let’s not have this issue divide the community. Contact U.S. Sen. Jim Risch showing your support for the Scotchman Peaks Wilderness Bill.
