KELLOGG — Senior Max Icardo and freshman Sara Hathaway each picked up a win in a pair of solid showings to lead the Clark Fork track team on Saturday at the 12-team Booster Invite in Kellogg.

Icardo beat a field of 15 runners, most from bigger schools, to win the 300 hurdles in a time of 45.1 and finish second in the 110 high hurdles in 18.4. For perspective, the times were just under the winning times at the recent Sandpoint meet, which featured 5A Post Falls, Lake City and Coeur d’Alene.

Hathaway won the high jump for the second straight meet, and while it wasn’t as high as her school record of 4-10 in the opener, her 4-6 jump in less than ideal conditions was good enough to win the meet. She also finished third in the 100 among 23 runners, from schools like 5A Lake City and 3A Bonners Ferry and Priest River.

Emily Garman also had a strong meet, finishing 3rd in the 300 hurles, 4th in the 100 hurdles, ninth in the 200 and 10th in the 100. The Cats boast a trio of strong hurdlers, with Hathaway missing a chance in the 100 hurdles after a false start.

Other top 10 showings turned in by the Wampus Cats included Nona Young (6th in shot, 10th in discus), Mathis Heisel (6th in 3,200), and Ellie Kiebert (9th in 400).
