PASCO, Wash. — Katherine Kaul ran a personal best 5:20 in the 1,600 to finish 5th, and teammate Hannah Davidson clocked a season-best 2:22 to also finish 5th, leading the Bulldog track team on Saturday at the prestigious Pasco Invitational.

The meet draws the elite track athletes from the region, and is one of the biggest in the Pacific Northwest, so any top 10 finish is extremely noteworthy. Bulldog distance coach Angie Brass had high praise for the pair.

“Katherine ran an incredibly strong 1,600, read the field well, executed her splits and ran an impressive last 600 meters for a career PR,” described Brass. “Hannah ran to a strong 5th place overall finish in the fastest 800 women’s heat, posting a season PR and displaying that speed and toughness she races with, passing several in the home stretch.”

The girls distance medley relay team of Niah Brass, Dana Beaty, YeoWon Yarnell and Kali Scheel teamed up to finish 13th, while the boys distance medley team of Peik Lund-Andersen, Peter Soderberg, Sloan Woodward and Ephraim Weisz finished 19th in a pair of top 20 showings.

Other Bulldog finishers included Sharon Rowe, who leapt 32-0 to set a PR and finish 21st in the triple jump, Spencer Bassett, who jumped 40-1 to finish 22nd in the triple jump, Maddie Morgan, who went 14-11 to finish 24th in the long jump, and Finan Lund-Andersen, who clocked a 4:38 to finish 26th in the 1,600.

Erik Suhr, Ammon Ollerton, Bassett and Tyren Witthaus finished 30th in the 4x100 relay, and Cole Hooper registered a no height in the pole vault to round out the results for the Bulldogs who earned an invitation by meeting qualifying standards.

Sandpoint was supposed to be at the Lakeland Relays today, but the meet was canceled. The Bulldogs are at the Christina Finney Invitational in Post Falls on Thursday.
