Steiger leads Bulldog JV to big win

| April 19, 2017 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Brooklen Steiger ripped three hits, including a double that seemed to ignite the offense, as the Sandpoint JV softball team scored a quality, high-scoring 18-14 win over Cheney last weekend in a game that was called after the fifth inning due to the time limit rule.

Lily Gammon added two hits and a double, and Jaycie Irish and Clistie Adam also added doubles for the Bulldogs. Sandpoint trailed before exploding for 11 runs in the fourth inning to take the lead for good.

“The team started hitting really well after Brooklen Steiger hit a double in the second inning,” said JV head coach Leah Platt. “Their base running and defense has improved a lot since their last game at the end of March. Everyone on the team contributed to the win today.”
