SANDPOINT — A fire destroyed an outbuilding and portable toilets at Great Northern Park on Saturday, according to Selkirk Fire Rescue & EMS officials.

The fire has been ruled “suspicious” by Selkirk Fire Chief Ron Stocking.

The fire was reported shortly after 10 p.m. on North Lincoln Avenue.

A damage estimate was not immediately available on Wednesday.

“It was pretty well destroyed,” Stocking said of the city of Sandpoint’s outbuilding.

No witnesses have come forward and Stocking said evidence which might point to the fire’s origins was also destroyed by the fire.

“It’s hard to go any further,” he said.

Sandpoint Police Chief Corey Coon did not return a message Wednesday seeking comment on the fire investigation.
