Bulldog track and field team 2nd in Post Falls

POST FALLS — Spencer Bassett, Erik Suhr, Ammon Ollerton and Tyren Witthaus teamed up to win the 4X100 relay, while Yeo Yarnell, Kali Scheel, Katherine Kaul and Hannah Davidson won the 4X800 relay, leading the Bulldog to second place finishes among six teams on Friday at the Christina Finney Relays at Post Falls High School. Team scores are combined.

Bassett won the long jump (20-3), finished second in the triple jump (40-3) and fourth in the 200, while freshman Maddie Morgan hit a PR of 32-5 to win the triple jump while also finishing second in the long jump, as both the boys and girls teams finished just behind Post Falls, but ahead of Moscow, Coeur d’Alene, Timberlake and Lakeland.

The only other Sandpoint wins were turned in senior Cole Hooper, who cleared 13-0 to win the pole vault, and Kaul, who clocked a personal best of 2:27 to win the 800.

The 4X100 team of Jaelyn Martin, Bailee Klopman, Taitan Bowen and Valerie Wickboldt finished second. Other second place finishes included Hannah Davidson (400), Finan Lund-Andersen (3,200), Zack Alamillo (discus) and Sharon Rowe (triple jump).

Victoria Aylward marked a personal best 30-1 to finish third in the shot put, and Elain Huang cleared 4-6 to finish third in the high jump. Other third place finishes included Witthaus posting a PR of 11.9 in the 100, Wickboldt (200), Lund-Andersen (1,600), Scheel (3,200) and Slade Rucker (pole vault).

Sam Diercks cleared 11-0 to notch a personal best and finish fourth in the pole vault. Other Bulldogs to finish fourth included Martin (100), Yarnell (800), Ephraim Weisz (3,200), Heather Wallace (3,200), Reannan Jackman (shot put), Alamillo (shot put) and Rowe (long jump).

Rounding out the top 5 finishers for the Bulldogs were Robbie Johnson (100), Martin (100 hurdles), Wickboldt (100), Kyle Almeida (400), Niah Brass (1,600), Weisz (1,600) and Ollerton (triple jump).

The Bulldogs will take a partial team to Priest River today, then will take the entire varsity to the Timberlake Invitational on Friday.
