Pollie G. Quinn, 91, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Monday, April 17, 2017.

She was born in Ontario, California, to Dr. Fred L. and Ruth P. Mitchell. They named her Mary Adda but she was always called Pollie. As an only child, she grew up in West Los Angeles and attended schools there. She attended both Pomona College and University of Southern California until her marriage to John (Jack) Gillham Jr. in 1947. They had two children Jill Diane and John C. Gillham III.

After their divorce in 1956, Pollie returned to college and obtained a bachelor of fine arts degree and a teaching credential from UCLA. She taught elementary school for 25 years.

In 1981, she married Lawrence (Larry) Quinn. They traveled extensively, even after they moved to their new home in Hope, Idaho, in 1990, built by her son John.

Pollie was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority at USC and an actively involved member of PEO in Sandpoint. She served in many offices, including president, and helped to provide scholarships to several young women. She loved to travel, swim, walk, play any kind of game, work puzzles, sew and entertain her family and friends. She was always interested in art, especially interior decorating. She has said that she would like to be remembered as a kind, caring and intelligent person.

Pollie leaves a daughter, Jill (Dean); a son, John (Lynda); and her grandchildren, Brian, Kara, Sara and Lacy. She also leaves stepchildren Janet, Larry (Maxine), Stephen, Bill Quinn, and Diane Coleman; and granddaughter Tara Coleman.

Memorials may be made to PEO, in memory of Pollie Quinn; 419 Michigan, Sandpoint, ID 82864.
