SANDPOINT — The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce welcomed Art Place Sandpoint as they celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, April 7.

Art Place Sandpoint, a place to bring artists and students together to connect, motivate and create, was started recently by Vickie Edwards, president of Art Works Gallery.

“I have always dreamed of opening a facility to offer artisan crafts and fine art workshops to the many people that want to learn a new medium or improve on their current skills,” said Edwards.

Art Place will offer daytime and evening classes, weekend workshops and more intensive four- to six-week intensive training in painting, drawing, calligraphy, encaustics, jewelry and textiles. In addition, it will serve as an art gallery for instructors and select students to display and sell their art.

A grand opening reception will be held Saturday, May 6, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Art Place Sandpoint, 120 S. Second Ave. The public is encouraged to come visit with artists, see the gallery of instructor’s work and learn more about upcoming classes while enjoying refreshments and appetizers.

“I believe artists are the most amazing, giving, generous and interesting people in the world,” said Edwards. “I want the artists to have the opportunity to conduct quality and high caliber workshops and be rewarded for their years of training and love of the creative process.”
