(Photo by SALLY VANDENBERG) An airplane with fire retardant helps put out a 40-plus acre fire at Trestle Creek recently, in this excellent shot taken by local Sally VanDenBerg. Three Type 2 initial attack crews, 10 smokejumpers, two Forest Service engines with crews, a contract water tender and an additional 15 local firefighters helped stop the fire from spreading.
