Michael Anthony Grasser, 11
Michael Anthony Grasser, 11, died a hero and gave his life in an attempt to save his brother from drowning on Aug. 1, 2017. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Born Oct. 12, 2005, Michael was adopted at birth by Sandra Clements of Phoenix, Ariz., and survived by Michelle, Angela, Johnny, Christopher, Sarah and David. After Sandra’s passing in January 2010, Michael was cared for by the Downing family: Leeray II and Sherrie, Leeray III, Amber, Kaitlin and Kimberly. In October 2010, Michael moved to North Idaho and was adopted by the Grasser family: Rocky and Kathy, Mandy, Emily and Isaac.
He was a living miracle and overcame many physical challenges. Recently Michael gave his heart to Jesus. He was a member of the North Idaho Church of God in Hayden. He loved church and was raised in a loving church family where he claimed many more family members.
He never knew a stranger and was a very loving and compassionate child. He was everyone’s best friend. He had amazing recall of social interactions. He was part of Classical Conversations School in Sandpoint, Idaho.
He enjoyed animals, auto dramas, electronics, dirt bikes, playing with friends, “Hank the Cowdog,” music and food. His exuberant joy for life is an inspiration for all. He was greeted in Heaven by his “Mommy Sandy.”
The Grasser family will receive family and friends during the visitation on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Yates Funeral Home, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at the Hagadone Event Center, 900 S. Floating Green Dr., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Athol.
