I was one of the interview judges for 4-H last Wednesday. As always when I get to visit with the 4-H kids I come home feeling our world will be in excellent hands. They are polite, well versed in the project/projects they have completed and able to explain the trails, tribulations and success they have had. Even the 10-year-olds could come to us and speak, at first shyly, but soon with passion for 4-H. When asked “what did you learn in 4-H this year?” one home schooled student said “to explain something to people we don’t know. At home we don’t have that opportunity.”

We interviewed would-be veterinarians, hog farmers “hogs are a lot more fun them my sheep last year,” riflemen, cattle growers, photographers, leather workers and one young man with the makings of a future Pat McManus. He was too young to know who Pat McManus is.

You kids are doing a great job. Keep up the good work.
