The new three-way yield at the intersection of First Avenue and Church Street obviously has people real confused.
The way it works is the vehicle turning left from First onto Church has the right of way. The street coming from City Beach has a yield and both directions on 1st have yields. Pretty simple, but yet each of the past three days as I was turning left onto Church a vehicle heading west on First Avenue has blown through the yield sign without even slowing down.
Granted, it is confusing like Malfunction Junction in Missoula, but if it’s the system our city leaders want to use they need to make it safe. They could do it many ways, but here are two suggestions.
1. Take both yield signs down on First and the person turning left onto Church yields to the right on First (right of way) or
2. Station a cop there to enforce the signage.
As it is now there’s going to be a wreck that is avoidable and I don’t want it to me.
