Parks and Rec youth flag football teams forming now

SANDPOINT — Registration is underway for the City Rec fall Youth Flag Football League, which is open to any and all area youth in grades 3rd through 8th. Participants can register online at www.sandpointidaho.gov/parksrec, or by visiting City Hall (1123 Lake St.), but must register before Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Play will be spilt into 3rd/4th grade teams, which play with a Nerf football, and 5th/6th grade and 7th/8th grade teams, which play with junior rubber footballs.

Practices will be held once a week, with games played on Saturday mornings at Travers Park. Games will begin on Saturday, Sept. 23 and run through Oct. 28. Adults interested in coaching the philosophies of fun, fundamentals and sportsmanship are needed.

The fees for one player are $35 county/$30 city; two players is $60 county/$50 city; and three players is $80 county/$70 city. Mandatory jerseys are $14 and can be purchased at Parks and Rec. Scholarships are available on a need basis.
