'Jingle' filled with mystery, fun
Sometimes, the one thing a person really wants or needs most in life, the one thing that is the subject of intense focus and soul searching or desire, will arrive in that life. Usually, the arrival of that one important thing comes from an unexpected, unpredictable place. That can be the beauty, the essence of life.
Such is the essence of the surprisingly light, funny, beautiful play, “Jingle”, currently in its second week at the Panida Little Theater in Sandpoint. Locally written and directed by Becky Revak, and realistically acted by local experienced performers, “Jingle” starts as a glimpse into the lives of different people affected by separate, unfulfilled needs and deep desires incorporated into their small town, gentle lives.
Featuring two local child actors, “Jingle” immerses us in their world as they forge a bond based on their realistic efforts to solve a troubling mystery as only children can. The excellently crafted banter reminds us of our lives at that age, as the young boy, played by Ryan Durbin, visits hilarious tangents based on childish misconceptions shared with the older, more mature, perfectly timed acting of Jodie, played by Tru Tomco. Once again, Ms. Revak uses minimal props and sets, leaving the actors and our imagination to build the world around the story.
“Jingle” is a co-production of the Panida Playhouse Theater and Com Tech, Inc. and will have its final two performances in the ‘Dessert and Theater’ series tonight and Saturday. Doors open at 6 p.m., with chocolate and caramel fountains over multiple dipping delights, with the play beginning at 7 p.m.
Tickets are limited, and available are Baxter’s, Eves Leaves, Santosha Imports, and at panida.org, for $19 per person.
Proceeds from this theatre performance are intended to make it possible to support more local theater at the Panida. It has been made possible by the Panida Theater, Com Tech, Inc, and Blue Sky Broadcasting. The Panida suggests you get your tickets in advance as seating is limited. There are only 50 seats available for each performance.
