Big second quarter propels Tigers past road Bulldogs
SPIRIT LAKE — Senior Lilly Kelley scored 21 of her game-high 29 points in the first half to lead the Tigers (3-1) past the Bulldogs in a nonleague game.
“Defensively, we were able to get a few more stops in the second quarter,” said Timberlake coach Matt Miller, whose team outscored Sandpoint 17-5 in the second to take a 31-19 halftime lead. “They missed a few shots in the second that they made in first quarter.”
Grace Kirscher scored 26 points, finishing 7-for-8 from the free-throw line for Sandpoint (1-4), and now has 57 points in her last two games.
“Grace did a good job of getting into the lane and to the basket,” Miller said. “She had a great night and was able to get to the free-throw line.”
Ciera Bailey scored 12 and continues to be a second scoring threat as the Bulldogs continue without a few key players who are due back from injury later in the season.
