Wildcats top Bulldog boys
SANDPOINT — Alex Stockton posted 15 points and Cade Vernon added 11, but the Bulldogs fell behind early and never seemed to recover against Mt. Spokane, falling 71-44 to the Wildcats in nonleague boys basketball Friday night at Les Rogers Court.
The Wildcats, a 3A Greater Spokane League team, converted a lot of easy buckets off the transition game, and were able to generate good looks in the half court sets to jump out to a 41-20 halftime lead.
Stockton did much of his damage hitting mid-range jumpers, and he hit a 3-pointer in a 14 point third quarter for the Bulldogs (1-2), who were only out-scored by six in the second half. The Bulldogs hit 12 of 16 free throws, an improvement over a 19 for 35 showing against Timberlake.
Stockton, William Treadaway and Robbie Johnson all had nice blocks on defense for Sandpoint, which is at Priest River on Tuesday.
