PAFE receives grant to support youth literacy
SANDPOINT — The Panhandle Alliance for Education recently received a generous grant from Avista in support of PAFE's early childhood literacy programs.
"We are fortunate to be able to work for a company that understands and supports what it means to be good stewards in the communities in which we live," said Jim Kane, Avista’s operations manager in Sandpoint, speaking on behalf of himself and North Idaho regional business manager, Patty Shea. "We want to thank Panhandle Alliance for Education for making a huge impact with our kids."
PAFE has a vested interest in early childhood literacy, with it’s READY! for Kindergarten and Books for Babies Programs. Birth to age 5 is so important because a child’s earliest learning experiences influence success in school and beyond. Engaging families is the most effective way to make these critical developmental years count, in order to prepare children to be successful, life-long learners.
The next session of READY! for Kindergarten parent workshops will be held in Sandpoint on Saturday, Jan. 20. Visit the website, readysandpoint.org, or call the PAFE office, 208-263-7040 to register in advance or for information.
