Festival hosts free holiday concert
The Festival at Sandpoint presents a concert performed by the Festival Youth Orchestra on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Fourth and Alder, Sandpoint. All are welcome and admission is free. Light refreshments will follow the concert.
The Festival sponsors an array of string programs for all ages and ability levels and all programs are absolutely free:
- The Festival Youth Orchestra is a string ensemble for intermediate to advanced players who can read music. Musical selections include classical, pop, folk and thematic works arranged for string ensembles. Open to all ages. Meets Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 a.m., Sandpoint Middle School music room.
- Beginning Strings Ensemble: For string players of all ages who know how to play their instrument but have never been in an ensemble with multiple, different parts. Focus will be on rhythm and reading in an ensemble to develop confidence and musical skills at a moderate pace. A great glass for younger players and those who haven’t played for a few years! Meets Mondays 5-6 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
- Quartet Club: Put your reading skills to the rest, try new music and meet other string musicians. Meets once a month at The Festival Office. No performances, just a fun musical happening. The Quartet Club will provide music in classical, pop and folk genres. Bring an instrument and play some music!
- String Trio/Quartet is for string players interested in playing chamber music on a regular basis.
