Vandals set to host hoops DH against Simon Fraser

| December 14, 2017 12:00 AM

MOSCOW — It’s back to action in the Cowan Spectrum for Idaho men’s hoops, with Simon Fraser coming to town for a 7 p.m. tipoff on Friday night. The game will be a part of a doubleheader with the women, who take on Seattle University starting at 5 p.m.

Idaho fell at CSU Bakersfield, 66-55 in a sloppy game their last time out. The Vandals struggled to control the ball, committing 27 turnovers on the night, the most ever by a Don Verlin-coached team.

Brayon Blake had an outstanding week, averaging 21 points and 10 boards per contest during a week the head coach Don Verlin saw as one of the most important of non-conference play. The Vandals took down Nicholls State to start the week, with Blake posting a career-high 23 points.

Idaho followed that up with a thrashing of local rival Washington State, with Blake posting a career-high yet again, this time with 26 points. In the end, Blake finished the week shooting 59 percent from the floor (26-of-44) and a staggering 73 percent from beyond the arc (8-of-11).

BUCK NIGHT COMING UP: Idaho won’t be back in Moscow until Jan. 4, when Sacramento State comes to town for the Big Sky home opener. The Vandals want a packed house that Thursday night to celebrate the start of conference play and will be offering $1 hot dogs, soft drinks and popcorns all game long. Ticket deals are also in full effect, with High School Night-prices of just $2 for general admission.
