CCS awarded foundation grant

Cancer Connection Idaho in the Idaho Community Foundation has awarded more than $13,000 to programs that support education, social connections and coping skills for people and families touched by cancer statewide.

Among those receiving a grant was Community Cancer Services in Sandpoint, which received $1,000 to support yoga classes and the services of licensed clinical social workers providing counseling services.

Grants also were awarded to:

- River Discovery, Inc. (Boise) — $5,000 to support the Joe & Fran Tonsmeire Salmon River six-day adventure.

- Casting for Recovery of Idaho (Southern Idaho chapter) — $4,800 to help offset the cost of meals and lodging for 12 participants from Idaho attending the 2018 retreat in Challis.

- Treasure Valley Family YMCA — $2,500 to purchase supplies and materials for the artist-in-residence program
