Grove Schoolcraft, 92, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017.

Grove was born on March 25, 1925, in North Platte, Neb., the son of Clifford and Lillian Schoolcraft. In civilian life he was a telegrapher for the railroad until his retirement in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Grove was truly a part of the “Greatest Generation.” As a 17-year-old boy he left his home in Nebraska and joined the United States Navy, to defend his country in the South Pacific, in 1942. While stationed at Farragut Naval Training Center he met, and fell in love with, Patricia Phillips of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Returning from the war, Grove and Patricia were married on April 14, 1946, in Bonners Ferry. Grove and Patricia had one son, two beautiful granddaughters and one great- granddaughter. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends also survive.

He was always a hero to his two younger brothers and his two younger sisters. He had a good life and now joins his wife Patricia, who passed away in 2012.

Family and friends are invited to sign Grove`s online guestbook at coffeltfuneral.com.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Coffelt Funeral Service.
