NIFRW receives national Diamond Award

| December 21, 2017 12:00 AM

North Idaho Federated Republican Women President Mary Jo Ambrosiani joined nearly 900 fellow Republican leaders from across the nation Sept. 14-17 at the National Federation of Republican Women’s 39th biennial convention in Philadelphia, Pa., focusing on leadership training and GOP unity to secure victories in the 2018 midterm elections.

Ambrosiani was elected in November 2015 to serve as president of NIFRW for the 2016-2017 term. During this time, under her leadership, NIFRW worked diligently to complete criteria recommended by the National Federation of Republican Women, and NIFRW was awarded the Diamond Award at the national convention.

"I am honored to work with such a fine group of ladies and our associate members to help elect Republicans to National, State and Local Offices, as well as to assist our community with the many philanthropic opportunities presented to us," Ambrosiani said.

A few examples of projects NIFRW has been involved with are walking local precincts to register voters for primary and general elections, donating Constitution books to local area high schools, helped place and removed flags on the military graves at Pinecrest Memorial Park for Memorial Day, collected and delivered 17,649 pop top tabs that were donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Boise and collected $10,680.75 in manufacturer’s coupons that were sent to the Support Our Troops organization in Daytona Beach, Fla.

NIFRW associate member and county prosecutor Louis Marshall worked with NIFRW member Sen. Shawn Keough to introduce and successfully pass the Court Facility Dog Bill in the Legislature during the 2017 legislative session. NIFRW wrote letters of support for the bill’s passage to both Senate and House members.

During the four-day event, which centered on the theme "Where It All Began," delegates and other registrants participated in a series of seminars in the areas of campaigns, elections, issue advocacy and membership and leadership development. They heard from Republican leaders, elected officials and other notable guests, including U.S. Sens. Roy Blunt and Pat Toomey, New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and Kentucky Treasurer Allison Ball.

Upon reflection of the time she spent in Philadelphia, Ambrosiani said, "Touring Philadelphia and taking in sights such as The Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and the Betsy Ross House, as well as the First Library, the First Hospital and the original ‘Upper and Lower House’ made my time in Philadelphia a very memorable experience. Seeing where it all began makes one appreciate the history and beginnings of our country and government and why the freedoms that we have are so cherished."

"Philadelphia is where the greatness and governance of our nation began," said NFRW President Carrie Almond. "We came here not only to reflect but also to be reminded why we must work hard to rebuild our great nation in unity with our elected officials in Washington, D.C., and our home states, and to prepare for the upcoming midterm elections to ensure Republican victories across the country."
