Stockton drops 18 as Bulldogs top Tigers

SPIRIT LAKE — Alex Stockton scored 18 points for the Bulldogs, who held the Tigers scoreless in the second quarter to earn a 57-53 win and season sweep on Friday night in nonleague boys basketball at Timberlake High School.

“We had our four top scorers in foul trouble, and just couldn’t score with them out of the game,” Timberlake coach Michael Scott said. “We were kind of mismatched. They had a bit more size, but we made a run at the end. But that second quarter just hurt us.”

Sandpoint (4-2) got 13 points from Robbie Johnson, as he and Stockton form a solid one-two punch on the blocks. It was also a season-low for points allowed for the Bulldogs, who were outscored by six in the second half.

Dawson Cramer scored 13 points for 3A Timberlake (3-6), which faces Tonasket in the West Valley tournament on Wednesday.

Sandpoint will face Davenport on Wednesday at 9 a.m., also at the West Valley tournament.
