Bulldog girls finish 3-0 at Eagle Holiday Classic

SPOKANE VALLEY — Maddie Morgan poured in 17 points for the second straight game, and fellow sophomore Dawson Driggs added a season high 14 points, as the Bulldogs used superior depth to blow open the game in the second half of a 62-31 win over Deer Park to cap a 3-0 showing at the Eagle Holiday Classic Friday at West Valley High School.

Grace Kirscher added 15 points for the Bulldogs (6-5), who led by six at halftime before a dominating performance at both ends of the floor in a 20-2 third quarter that blew the game wide open, as the Stags’ thin bench cost them.

“We made a couple of defensive adjustments at half, and our depth really wore Deer Park Down. They were only playing with seven players,” said assistant coach Will Love. “We finished 3-0 and we’re pretty excited about the upcoming games.”

Bulldog head coach Duane Ward felt yesterday’s win over Cheney might be a turning point in the season, and he thinks his team is just starting to find its identity as younger players continue to step up.

“The young kids came through really well. We’re starting to play some basketball, play with confidence, they’re starting to attack the basket,” said Ward. “It really helps when you get three kids attacking and scoring the basketball. We’ll get back to Sandpoint and go to work.”

Sadnpoint is at West Valley on Jan. 6.
