| December 31, 2017 12:00 AM

Our beautiful Carolyn peacefully passed into the Lord’s arms, surrounded by her family, on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2017, following a short illness, at Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She had been living at Bristol Heights Assisted living for the last few years.

Carolyn was born Oct. 10, 1931 in Hazen, N.D., to William and Annie Singer.

She grew up on the family farm in Rathdrum, Idaho, with seven brothers and five sisters. All of the children worked very hard on the ranch growing up. She attended her schooling in Rathdrum. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her siblings all of her 86 years. There were always many stories to tell of her childhood.

Caro-lyn married Thornton McGhee and had two daughters, Mona and Debra.

She was a very outgoing person who enjoyed working with the public and in the retail fashion industry.

She enjoyed traveling with family and friends to Hawaii, Cancun and Palm Desert. She loved bowling and excelled at the sport, traveling with her league to many different locations, winning trophys, and having lots of fun. She enjoyed golfing and played on a ladies league at Wandermere Golf Course in Spokane, Wash., for years. She worked in fashion shops in Palm Desert, Calif., for many winters while enjoying her golf in a warmer climate.

Carolyn adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It was always all about her “kids.” Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Carolyn was an excellent cook and loved having family dinners.

Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Mona McGhee (Bart Nelson), and Debra McGhee-Hill (Ron Hill); her grandsons, Travis Carter and JJ (Alli) Geenen; her great-granddaughters, Carsyn Carter and Quinn Geenen; numerous stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Bernie Berglund, sister Darlene Smith, brother Walt (Grace) Singer, brother Herb (Deloras) Singer, brother Ben (Val) Singer, and brother Lorenze Singer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, William and Annie Singer; sisters Willie Paul and Rosie Fowler, Nora Nelson; and brothers Cliff Singer, Oscar Singer, and Ray Singer.

A celebration of life service will take place in the spring.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
