Irene Stott, 92

| February 1, 2017 12:00 AM

Irene Stott, 92, passed away on Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, in Sandpoint.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Pastor Jon Pomeroy, will be officiating.

Irene Crummett was born on April 21, 1924, in Burnley, Lancashire, England. She died, at age 92, at Life Care with her daughter by her side. She was the third of four children born to Maggie Radcliffe and George Crummett.

In 1943, while England was in the heat of World War II, she met an American, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps, who was stationed in England. His name was Edgar Stott, they met at a skating rink, and were married in 1945.

At the end of the war, Irene became a “war bride” as she had married an American, and so came over on the Queen Mary and they settled in Long Beach, Calif. In 1948, daughter Christine was born and son David was born in 1950.

Irene worked for Sav-On Drug Store and McDonald Douglas Aircraft. After retiring she worked as an aide with special needs children. She loved all children and was a wonderful grandmother to all her grandchildren.

Irene was raised Catholic and in 1973 she and Ed started attending Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa when Chuck Smith was pastor. She became a “Bible believing Christian” and today is in heaven because of Jesus Christ’s blood which was shed on the cross. This is a comfort to her family; she will be greatly missed but we look forward to seeing her “on that beautiful shore.”

She is survived by her daughter, Christine (and Ray) Crossingham; her son, David (and Jean) Stott; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to sign Irene’s online guestbook at www.coffeltfuneral.com.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Coffelt Funeral Service.
