It is interesting to me that in our fast-paced world of sound bites, hashtag posts and multi-tasking that sometimes a statement gets presented as a fact, when in reality the statement was just someone’s opinion. Don’t get me wrong, opinions are critical to communication, but it is the representation of opinions masquerading as facts that become problematic. I ask all voters to do their research, read facts, ask questions of people who will clearly communicate fact and opinion. Use your power of discernment. Please don’t just read opinions — even mine.

On March 14, 2017, the replacement supplemental levy will go before the voters. Be an informed voter, know what the levy does to support the education of our current students, know how many jobs it supports (in the school district and how those relate to other businesses in the community), and know the ripple effect for both outcomes — when it passes or if it fails. This is our community and what we support matters.

I want the levy to pass. I am voting, “yes.” I ask for a “yes” vote from you, but we live in a democracy so you get to make up your own mind. Exercise your democratic right and be accurately informed before you vote.
