To all LPOSD levy supporters:

Thank you for choosing to invest your dollars locally, in to one of society’s most meaningful institutions — public schools. Thank you for choosing to be informed, to not give in to the fear or misinformation that is circulating. Thank you for being a community with a longstanding tradition of supporting our schools, teachers, students, and staff.

I am honored to tell you your dollars are not wasted. As you know, the levy funds extracurricular activities. As the Student Leadership adviser, I get to teach 23 of the most innovative, hard-working, and caring students at SHS. Part of their accomplishments this year include fundraising over $7,000 for Toys for Tots, planning Mock DUI (a program which has greatly reduced the number of drinking and driving incidents in our county), hosting blood drives, and overseeing “Kindness Week” (an effort to make all students know their irreplaceable value and worth). While taxpayer dollars do not pay for any of the above mentioned accomplishments, they do help fund the elective and adviser. Ask any student leader at SHS if their class has been valuable, and I would anticipate a resounding “yes” as they’ve all grown tremendously as competent and outstanding leaders.

So thanks too, community members, for supporting these students. Without your investment young leaders would not be given such valuable opportunities. Student Leadership is one of many fruitful programs in our district.

Vote yes on March 14.
