Legion baseball registration starting up

| February 23, 2017 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — The official season is still a ways off, but registration for the 2017 American Legion Baseball summer program begins on Saturday, Feb. 25.

In-person and mail-in registration for the upcoming summer program will begin on Saturday and end March 31. The season will run from approximately mid-May through Aug. 1. A typical season is comprised of 30 – 35 games (20 league and 10 – 15 in tournament play).

This season the Sandpoint Legion Program is expecting to field three teams, ranging in age from 13-19 years-old as of Jan. 1, 2017. While there is some overlap with the Little League Juniors program and our Short A team’s game schedule, every effort is made to minimize scheduling conflicts.

The Legion coaching staff is comprised of current and former high school coaches, college players, and all are NFHS certified.

Registration fees for players’ in grades 8–11 are $500/player, and $300/player for high school graduating seniors that have participated in Legion Baseball in previous seasons.

Register by March 10 and receive a $100 discount on your registration fee. A $100 fee is due at the time of registration and be sure to also ask about our fundraising opportunities to help offset remaining player registration fees. Registering early also provides the best opportunity for you to get your favorite jersey number.

Additional information and registration forms can be picked up on Saturday, Feb 25 from 1-5 p.m. at Sandpoint High School, or by emailing Ken Oler at “koler@verifunds.net,” or by going to facebook.com/groups/DawgsBaseball.
