Enough! There is no justifiable reason for the LPOSD supplemental instructional levy to fail on March 14. The LPOSD is well worth preserving.
We have an excellent staff, dedicated educators and an effective administrative team. They have done remarkable things and what they have done make us proud. We have award-winning counselors, one recently represented Idaho on the national stage. We have a high school student who is a National Merit Finalist. The graduation rate from Sandpoint High School is 95 percent. U.S. News and World Report evaluated high schools based on student performance on state required tests and how well the graduates are prepared for college. Sandpoint High School is a 2016 Notable Idaho School and is the highest rated school in North and North Central Idaho. Our students’ math and English proficiency exceeds state averages. There are innovative student-centered programs including the Home School Academy, which was started to support the education activities families are doing at home. The use of technology is preparing graduates for a digital age and life-long learning. The student: faculty ratio (18:1) promotes student learning. LPOSD recognizes the importance to the community of maintaining rural schools, like Northside and Southside, and those in the small communities, like Hope and Clark Fork. Our children and grandchildren are getting a quality education. If this levy fails, the effect will be catastrophic. Vote approve the levy.
