Peggy and Francis Hastings
A beautiful love story that started when they wed on Dec. 20, 1960, has come to a rest with the loss of life of Peggy J. (Miles) and Francis G. “Jerry/The Kid” Hastings, who both lived and passed away at age 77 in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Peggy J. was born March 18, 1939, in Anderson County, Texas, to Coleman O. and Rozell (Tucker) Miles. She left this life on Feb.14, 2017, in Bonner County, Idaho.
She graduated from Loma Linda University with bachelor’s degree in nursing. She had careers as a registered nurse at Palestine Memorial Hospital, the Texas Department of Public Health, Bonner General Hospital, and retired from Sacred Heart Medical Center in July 2004. She inspired so many in pursuing a career in nursing. Francis G. was born Jan. 9, 1940, in San Diego, Calif., to Francis H. and Naomi M. (Shumway) Hastings. He left this life on Feb. 21, 2017, one week after “his bride” went to rest.
He was a successful mechanic, draftsman, engineer and pilot. Jerry lived his life for the Lord and family. He was always working on some project.
Peggy and Jerry are survived by daughters RaNee LaValley and Theresa Hastings; grandchildren Roxanna Ferguson, Heather Smith, and Justin Smith; a great-grandson, Gerald Ferguson; his brothers, Orval R. Miles and wife Sherell, and Ronald C. Miles and wife Kathy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held with immediate family.
