I’m getting old
My property taxes rise
I can see a future of tighter budgets
But, I’ll still vote FOR the levy
My son was educated here
Graduated from U of I
Had to move to the city for work
But, I’ll still vote FOR the levy
I moved to this territory
Forty-three years now
Put food by, the nation may collapse
But, I’ll still vote FOR the levy
I embrace the old land families
They work the land, forest, and wildlife
There’s a new crop of survivalist,
Militant, strategic, packing, strutting
Hell, I was a little bit there myself
But, I’ll still vote FOR the levy
If I believe in anything about us
It is that our churches, schools
And government buildings
Are where our institutions of hope
Try to make good out of the mess
We call humanity
