Megan Ranae Smith has been charged with misdemeanor cruelty to animals for an incident on Oct. 6, 2016, in which she allegedly threw a puppy to the ground and kicked it.

Her case number is CR-2016-0006903. The Bonner County prosecutor is Katherine Murdock. The Magistrate Judge is Lori Meulenberg. A public defender was appointed to defend Smith. On Dec. 12, 2016, Smith entered a plea of not guilty and demanded a jury trial. This case is in the discovery stage and no hearings are currently scheduled.
