Camps lead Sandpoint trapshooters in season opener

SANDPOINT — Bart and Barb Camps led the Sandpoint Gun Club team, which kicked off the competitive shooting season with a strong showing in the Spokesman Review and Noxon Trapshoots.

The Spokesman-Review Inland Northwest Trapshoot is in its 99th year, showcasing trapshooters throughout Washington, Idaho, Montana and Oregon. The eight-week contest is the oldest and largest shoot of its kind in the United States.

Bart Camps, Mike Hunter and Tim Farmin each hit 23 of 25 targets, while Louis Dash, Doug Bottcher and John Jaeger each carded 21s for a team score of 90 in the Spokesman shoot. Barb Camps hit 20 targets and Linda Bottcher 18 to lead the Sandpoint women shooters.

In the Noxon Postal shoot, also shot on Sunday at the Gun Club, Farmin was the high scorer with a 42 (23/19), followed by Doug Bottcher (21/18) and Bart Camps (23/16) with 39s and Charlie Elliott with a 38 (18/20) for a team score of 158.

Any and all shooters, both male and female, are welcome to compete every Sunday morning at 9 a.m. at the range on Gun Club Rd. in Sagle.
