Farmin Stidwell students go a-caroling

On December 12, 2016 Farmin Stidwell held its 37th annual holiday concert. The holiday program showcased Mrs. Brady’s life skills class, Mrs. Charvoz and Mrs. Hamelmann’s third-grade students, and third- to sixth-grade choirs, which is a new addition to the school this year. A total of about 54 students performed, bringing a smile to the audience’s face while bringing the Christmas spirit alive.
The choir director/music teacher Mrs. Belzer has been doing this concert for 37 years. She and the students have been rehearsing and preparing for this concert for several weeks. Mrs. Belzer (Gunter) notes, “These are the leaders of tomorrow!”
She loves when all the hard work is done and she sees the kids on stage “singing their hearts out.”
She admits it is a little nerve racking but still worth it.
One performer said “ I had a bunch of fun singing with my classmates and Mrs. Charvoz class.”
Mrs. Brady’s life skill class kicked off the holiday spirit by leading of the concert singing “Jingle Bells” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”. Both songs encouraged audience participation.
The third-grade classes from Mrs. Hamelmann and Mrs. Charvoz sang their popular music selections, “Here we Come A-Caroling” and “Feliz Navidad”. A new addition at Farmin Stidwell this year was the development of two choirs. Following them was the third- and fourth-grade choir singing “Christmas Jubilation” and “Spirit of the Season” from Polar Express. Then the third graders sang “Deck the Halls” and “Hanukkah, O Hanukkah”. Followed by the fifth-and sixth-grade choir singing Dona Nobis, “’Twas in the Moon of Wintertime”, and “Like Diamonds in the Night”. Finishing, came the third-graders singing “Santa’s Getting Fit for Christmas”, “Have a Happy, Happy Holidays”, and “Silent Night”, a Farmin Stidwell tradition.
In all, the concert was a huge success and a lot of fun for everyone. Not only could you see the smile on the performers faces, but you could tell they loved the performance just as much as the audience did.
