Calendar of cool packed with plenty of hot times

| January 12, 2017 12:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Looks like we’re into 2017 for the long haul now, which is just fine, because the calendar of cool stuff is as packed as ever.

One good way to warm up this week would be to swing by Community Hall Friday evening and join the fun at the Sandpoint ContraDance. You don’t need any experience as all the dances are taught as you go. Live music, lots of friends and a crazy good time.

Also Friday — and Saturday — the Panida will screen the film “Captain Fantastic” and follow the movie with a Q&A session with actor Viggo Mortensen. Earlier in the day on Saturday, the Library hosts a double feature showing as part of the ongoing Native Heritage Film Series. Saturday night has another option in store — a sleigh ride, dinner and concert with the Bridges Home Trio up at Western Pleasure Guest Ranch.

Looking ahead to Monday, be sure to attend POAC’s Student Art Show opening, followed by a short film at the Panida Little Theater.

Captain Fantastic, starring Viggo Mortensen, tells the story of a father devoted to raising his six kids off-grid through rigorous physical and intellectual education in the forests of the Pacific Northwest.
