It’s starting off as a strong year for women, with marches planned in Sandpoint, Spokane and even the nation’s capital. Women around America are showing support for their fellow women to help uplift and empower one another from sea to shining sea.

We wanted to do our part here at the library, so we put together a display of Women Who Made History that will be up for the month of January in Sandpoint as well as in Clark Fork. This not only gave us a chance to show off our impressive collection of biographies, but share the stories of some truly inspirational women and the great acts they’ve contributed to the world from artists and musicians to queens and lawmakers on either side of the aisle.

We even have some fun fact sheets available to copy showcasing some incredible women you may not have even known about, such as Bessie Coleman, who was the first woman to obtain an international pilot’s license while biplanes were still the best way to fly, or Ada Lovelace, who pioneered computer programming a century before computers even existed.

Stop by and be empowered by knowledge! All of the following take place at the Sandpoint Branch, 1407 Cedar Street, unless otherwise noted.
