Local student earns

Ph.D. from WSU

PULLMAN, Wash. – Nicholas Uhnak received a Ph.D in radiochemistry from the College of Arts and Sciences at Washington State University.

Uhnak’s dissertation is titled “Aqueous Pyridine Ligands for Actinide Lanthanide Separations.”

Uhnak earned a bachelor of science in chemistry from Boise State University.

Joel Smith named to Collegiate Choir

The Bob Jones University music faculty has named Joel Smith of Sagle to the University’s Collegiate Choir.

Smith is a junior majoring in Graphic Design.

The Collegiate Choir is part of BJU’s graded choir program and is comprised of mostly sophomores. Auditions for the group are held at the beginning of each semester. At the end of the academic year the singers audition for either the Concert Choir or the University Chorale which are both comprised of upperclassmen and graduate students.

“I’m excited to have a full roster of talented singers this year,” said Mr. Fred Coleman, Collegiate Choir director and head of the department of church music at BJU. “We are eager to use choral music to articulate the Gospel and our Christian faith.”

EOU announces

fall dean’s list

LA GRANDE, Ore. — Eastern Oregon University named 520 students to the dean’s list for the 2016 fall term, including a pair of students from Bonner County. Qualifying students achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded coursework for the duration of the term.

Emily Graham and Nan Kiebert, both of Sandpoint, were among those earning the honor.
