| January 17, 2017 12:00 AM

Goodbye sounds too permanent so rather we say until we see you again.

Melvin Lee Williams Jr. (Little Man) passed away on Jan. 12, 2017, in Spokane, Wash., surrounded by family.

Melvin was born on Jan. 3, 1957, in Sandpoint, Idaho, and was a lifelong area resident. He met Donna Snyder (Shove) in the late 1970s and they would get married a few years later. They had three beautiful children, Justin, Jason, and Joelynn. Melvin and Donna would later divorce and eventually he would meet his longtime life partner Sandy Hamilton. Melvin and Sandy created infinite memories over the years with each other and family.

Mel-vin enjoyed going into Mitzy’s for a cup of coffee and visiting with friends and family. He took pleasure in hunting and fishing with his sons and his nephew. He always had a good time playing slot machines and bingo. Melvin had a heart of gold and would offer a helping hand to anyone in need and he had an infectious smile that will remain with his family and friends forever.

Melvin worked in many professions throughout his lifetime including custodial work for then Bonner County School District, clearing power lines for Asplundh Tree Service in Montana, as well as driving both dump trucks and logging trucks.

Most recently, he was driving for Wes Olson Trucking and proudly maintained a membership with Union 690 Teamsters.

Melvin is survived by his three children, Justin (Heidi) Williams, Jason Williams, and Joelynn Williams (Scott Brown); and his siblings, Sue Daniels (John Hester), Bill (Linda) Williams, Janet (John) Lowry, Sharon (Frank) Kallio, and Bobbie Marcy. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Austin Williams, Dalton Williams, Shyanne Williams, and Kaden Fowlkes; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Melvin was also looking forward to becoming a great-grandpa at the end of February.

Melvin was proceeded in death by his parents, Mel and Marjorie Williams; and his older brother, Harold

Williams.

Our family wishes to express our heartfelt appreciation for the excellent care Melvin received at both

Kootenai Health and Sacred Heart hospitals. The sensitivity and support of all the medical staff helped

us through a very difficult time, and we will never forget your compassion and kindness.

A celebration of Melvin’s life will be announced and held at a later date.
