SANDPOINT — The S.T.E.P. gymnasts kicked off their 2017 season in style with a strong showing at the Snow Globe Classic at Lakeland High School, hosted by Technique Gymnastics. S.T.E.P. Training Centre competed in Xcel Bronze, Silver and Gold divisions, with a host of athletes in action.
The Bronze team was the first level of the day to compete, starting the day strong with a first place team finish. For some of the S.T.E.P. gymnasts it was their first experience competing at a gymnastics meet. Hayden Jones took home the first place all-around title in the senior A division, and Adeline Henney was first in the Senior B division.
The Silver level competitors were in action next, as the S.T.E.P. state champion Silver team of 2016 proved that they are equally strong for 2017 with a first place showing. Avery Edmundson finished first all-around in the Senior A division and also received the highest all-around score of the enitre meet with a 37.3 all-around finish.
Emily Price-Williams (Jr. B division), Moriah Tupper (Jr. C), Lacey Wathen (Sr. B), Isabelle Appl (Sr. C). also took home first place all-around finishes.
The Gold level gymnasts competed in the final session of the day, finishing third overall as a team. Kelly Moellmer took home first in the Junior C division. Other members of the Gold team placed in the top three on different apparatuses.
