Arlene Alma Uecker, 80

Arlene Alma Uecker, 80, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Private family services have been held.

Arlene was born Oct. 31, 1936, in Clearwater, Neb., to Carl and Elsie Ahlers. She grew up and attended schools in Tilden, Neb. On July 22, 1956, Arlene married Don Uecker in El Segundo, Calif. She worked as a nurse’s aide in a doctor’s office and raised their two children. In 1972, the family moved to Spokane, Wash., where Arlene worked at Good Samari-tan Nursing Home. In 2006, she and Don moved to Sagle, Idaho, to be closer to family.

She was a member of Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed doing needlework.

Arlene is survived by her two children, Steven (Laura) Uecker of Sagle, and Diane Uecker of Spokane; two granddaughters, Caitlyn and Emma; three sisters, Clara (Frederick) Ritter of Tilden, Irene Weinkauf of Topeka, Kan., and Rose Meyer of Wisner, Neb.; and a brother, Louie Ahlers of Scotts Bluff, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, and brother Bob Ahlers.
