| January 26, 2017 12:00 AM

It’s a diverse week ahead for the Panida.

Today, Jan. 26, the Panida plays host once again to a free teen movie this one dealing with the difficult topic of cyber-bullying. The movie starts at 5:30 p.m. and teens will receive a free popcorn and drink. The movie tackles a tough topic challenging our youth and after the movie once again they will have a panel to discuss the film. A drawing for prizes will be held after the discussion.

The event is sponsored by Summit Insurance and organized by a group of concerned organizations and individuals.

“Certain Women” opens this week and the Kelly Reichardt film takes place in a region of broad skies, rocky landscapes and pent-up feelings. The three women who occupy the focus are loosely connected to one another. They all live in the same town, one of them is having an affair with another’s husband and they are all dealing with the frustrations and failures of communication.

Laura Dern portrays a lawyer and her difficult client (Jared Harris) whose unhappiness borders close to violence. A contrast of pathetic and frightening. Tension and sorrow challenge the couple building a house (Michelle Williams and James Le Gros) bring the potential for resolved disharmony. Kristen Steward plays a young lawyer teaching a night class at a rural school. Although she isn’t a great teacher it is an infatuation that gets studied most. This love story is full of great songs, passions.

“Certain Women” sports a good solid cast and an engaging story. Shows Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Jan. 29 at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The film is rated R (for sex, smoking)

How do you organize 2 million bikers? Sandpoint’s own Travis Thompson speaks at the Panida Little Theatre on Saturday at 7 p.m. to tell us about the experience. Believing the Inauguration is an event for the country, not for an individual and not for a political party was just a part of the journey to Washington, D.C., to help ensure the peaceful transfer of power that is one of those great American miracles. Starts in the Panida’s Little Theater at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28.
